What does it mean to "partner" with Habitat?

 

The Habitat program is first and foremost a partnership between our organization, volunteers, and homeowners.  Without their cooperation and partnership, we cannot continue  to “build homes, communities, and hope.”

 

We are not a giveaway program.  Instead it is our motto to offer a “hand up - not a handout” by helping  families obtain decent affordable housing.

 

By partnering with Habitat, our homeowners must meet our eligibility requirements, pay a low-interest mortgage, and perform a certain number of "sweat equity" hours.

 

Partner families are an important part of the Habitat program. The mortgages of our partner families help fuel our affiliate and aid us in funding future projects in Frederick County.
