The Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County ReStore is pulling up roots and making a move to 917 N. East Street in Frederick. After more than five years, the store will move out of its current location on N. Market Street in April and open its doors a short distance away on N. East Street in a larger location to better serve customers, donors and volunteers.

On Nov. 9, Habitat for Humanity hosted a Rehab kickoff. Habitat purchased the house at 23 Hamilton Ave., Frederick, to be renovated and resold to Habitat's newest partner, Keysha Saxon, so she has a safe and affordable place to raise her three children.

Daphne Weedon was a single mother who, despite working full-time, had difficulty making ends meet for herself and her young son. Jessica Buchanan, a humanitarian worker in Somalia, was kidnapped and held for ransom in captivity for three months  The challenges they faced were very different, but each shared a message of hope and perseverance as part of Habitat for humanity of Frederick County's seventh annual The House is in the Bag handbag auction and fundraiser.

Habitat for Humanity to Renovate Home for Family with Special Needs Child

On November 9, 2016, Habitat for Humanity will host a new kind of ceremony, a Rehab Kickoff, at 23 Hamilton Avenue in Frederick.  This home will be renovated and resold to Habitat's newest partner, Keysha Saxon, so she has a safe and affordable place to raise her 3 children. It will be the first wheelchair accessible place her family has live in, which means new freedom for her 11 year old son with Cerebral Palsy.
